The 70-year-old Jones famously got on the ballot because no other Republicans bothered to run in the heavily Democratic district. Jones has been a perennial candidate for office, and ran for Congress a previous seven times, but he’s never been the only person on the primary ballot before. Upon winning his primary— in that no one else was around— he exulted to Politico that he’d “snookered” the local Republican establishment.
Ben has known all his life that he wanted to be a physical therapist. When he was in 3rd grade he had a minor knee injury that caused him to be sidelined in his favorite sport, football. After being treated by an excellent local Physical Therapist, he was able to return to the sport he loved. Ben then knew that he wanted to become a Physical Therapist so that he too could return people to the activities they enjoy.

No More “Sanctuary Cities”!: This is about the dumbest idea ever conceived. And it is clearly a blatant violation of Article 4, section 4 of the Constitution of the United States, where every state is guaranteed a republican form of government and protection against invasion and domestic violence. So, no Mayor or City Council has the authority to declare their city a “sanctuary” for illegal aliens who are in violation of Federal immigration laws.

During that time, whores, gunfighters, thieves and general riff-raff of every sort migrated to Seminole. The jail could not hope to hold them, so they were chained like animals to pieces of pipe driven into the ground. Everyone with common sense carried a gun and they were often used. My father owned a double-barrel, ten-gauge shotgun pistol the Chief of Police had taken from a hoodlum to give to him. In my early teens, the same Chief of Police called me to his office to issue me a permit to carry a concealed weapon. He said, 'I know you have a pistol. I know you need it. and in the likely event you have to use it, it will be better if it's legal.'
Cams on strength training equipment need to support the strength curves in the body. The cams on most equipment are incorrect in this regard. On the MedX Lumbar Extension machine, for example, the cam/strength curve ratio is 1.4 to 1. That means that a normal lumbar muscle should be 1.4 times stronger in the flexed position than in the extended position. For example, if we put 100 pounds on the machine, then at the beginning of the movement you would be pushing 100 pounds. As you moved through the full range of motion to the fully extended position, the cam would be moving so that the weight would continue to lighten so that at the end of the movement that 100 pounds would have smoothly lightened to 71.4 pounds. Each muscle has a different natural strength curve so each piece of equipment should have a different cam. For example, if you put 140 pounds on the Leg Extension machine it would start at 120 pounds in the fully flexed position, increase to 150 pounds within the first fifty degrees, and then it would decrease to less than 50 pounds in the fully extended position. Each machine needs to be properly calibrated and designed to accommodate the muscle group it is targeting.
MedX offers a short one foot weight stroke, as compared to most equipment which has a weight stroke of two or more feet. This means that the weight stack movement of only one foot on a full-range repetition is safer and smoother than the competition with a longer weight stroke. A long weight stroke can also effect the amount of weight that you are effectively moving when you use the machine.
Back pain is one of the most common reasons for missing work and is the second most common reason for visits to the doctor’s office, second only to upper-respiratory infections. Low back pain can range from mild to debilitating and can be present days to decades. Whether your just dealing with aggravating pain or you are trying to stay away from surgery you likely have something in common with all back pain sufferers, weakness. Weakness of the muscles in the low back can lead to or magnify many conditions including degenerative joint disease, disc herniation, and facet joint syndrome.

Transporting work comp patients to and from medical visits, PT, IMEs, hearings and the like is a big business – big for worker’s comp that is. At first blush, it looks like a perfect opportunity for Lyft and Uber (L/U)- they’ve got a gazillion drivers everywhere, a great service model, and they are much less expensive than the traditional work comp transportation services. In fact, […]

There has been talk lately about the utilization of ride share apps such as Lyft and Uber. It is the opinion of Comp-X as well as colleagues in risk management and the legal community that these programs should be avoided at all costs. Although these apps have many short term advantages, they pose a risk to both the insurance carrier and the claimant. Below are […]

The Lumbar Extension machine is great for golf exercises for the lower back, since the equipment targets the core muscles used during the swing. Improve core rotation and speed, and see how quickly you can improve drives off the tee.
